I have found a very fun new trapping build and Kevin can attest to the fact that it is really useful.
It includes the factions elite skill "Trappers focus" which allows your traps to not be easily interuptable.
You then include barbed trap, flame trap, viper pit, dust trap, and serpants quickness to help your traps recharge faster.
the attribute point s I use are 15 in experience, 10 in wilderness survival, 9 in beast mastery ( for viper pit), and 9 in marksmanship so that i can use my bow when all of my traps need to recharge.
The best way to use this in a group is to stand back until the warriors are holding the agro and then run up and throw a dust trap under the mob melee guys feet. You then run into the largest group of casters you can find and unload all of your traps under their feet. With serpents quickness on it only takes a short amount of time before you can start laying traps again, so you just remain in the middle of the battle laying traps wherever is most productive. You do have to keep an eye on your trapers focus and on serpents quickness to be sure they are active before trying to lay any traps otherwise you will get interupted and the trap will take forever to recharge without having caused any dmg.

Woot! I love trapping and trapper's focus just makes it... mean. I mean, just imagine happy ol' Long Jane whack-a-moleing a way at some ugly, short, beastie. Then along comes Vlekje, the sneaky ranger, and decides to lay traps at Jane's feet. What can Jane do about it? Nothing. Will Jane run away? Of course not! Will she die? Probably.

I have found that to be really effective you need to have an empty weapon set, that way you can empty your hands and target the person you want to trap. This will cause you to run right up to said paerson and allow you to lay traps right at their feet. While waiting for traps to recharge you can reequipe the bow and shoot away. It would also work to carry a melee weapon if you have the warrior secondary to put some points into it's attribute.
