There are many opportunities in Factions to farm pretty awesome green items close to cities and in relatively small farming groups. Most of these will not be easily solo'ed and would probably work best in groups of 3-5. The idea is to be able to move from area to area so as to not overwork one farming set - like so often happens with our friend Xuekao.
The first farm run involves WING, THREEBLADE, the warrior boss from whom most capture TRIPLE CHOP.
He drops Wing's Axe:
Slashing damage: 6-28 (req. 9 Axe Mastery)
Damage +15% while Health is Above 50%
Energy gain on hit: 1
Energy regeneration -1
Health +30
This Axe is perfect for those farming runs in UW or FoW.
You can get to WING, THREE BLADE from either Kaineng Center or The Marketplace. I prefer the latter.
The route from The Marketplace looks like this:
You will notice on the map four gray rectangular structures. WING, THREE BLADE is in the midst of those. From this route the team only need encounter a small group of Jade Brotherhood before fighting WING and his group.
The next set of bosses is an expansion on the previously posted Xuekao, the Deceptive. He drops Daggers of Xuekao:
Piercing damage: 7-17 (req. 9 Dagger Mastery)
Damage +15% (while enchanted)
Armor Penetration +20% (Chance: 20%)
Enchantments last 20% longer
Both hands
A great set of daggers if you will be running enchantments.
This run starts off at Maatu Keep in the Pongmei Valley.
To get directly to Xuekao take the following route:
The last time I fought him, upon aggravation of the battle I was swarmed by Am Fah and a few Jade Brotherhood. I do not know if this is standard or the henchies drew them in. Either way - for a small team it will be no problem.
Next up on this run is the Ritualist Boss The Afflicted Hakaru. No one seems to know what he drops yet - but most bosses seem to drop something in the game and he should be no exception. I do know, however, that you can capture WEAPON OF QUICKENING from him.
It takes a decent sized group, perhaps 4-5 players, to bring down his team effectively.
He is located directly across a bridge, not far from Xuekao, the Deceptive.
After defeating The Afflicted Hakaru it is time to fight some Yeti. The next boss is Arrahhsh Mountainclub, a Yeti Warrior. You can capture the elite BATTLE RAGE from him.
He is located in a secluded area by waterfalls, and you must fight through a few groups of Yeti to get to him.
He drops Arrahhsh's Aegis :
Armor: 16 (req. 9 Strength)
Received damage -2 (while in a Stance)
Health +45 (while in a Stance)
It is a fairly good strength/ stance shield and worth the fight.
To get to him finish the run thus:
Thus ends the Pongmei Valley farm run.
As we are currently associated with the Kurzicks - our next runs take us into Kurzick territory.
This section begins at the Altrumm Ruins and heading from there into the Arborstone's explorable area. This is one of the easiest runs to get to the bosses with some of the hardest bosses at the end. Leaving the Altrumm Ruins skirt around the arena type area till you see some wussy Wardens.
You run into them very fast.
Shortly after dispatching the Wardens you come to the first boss.
The two bosses are very close together, but easy to fight separately. Believe me - you want to fight them separately. The first boss is Craw Stonereap, a Necromancer Boss.
He uses the elite LINGERING CURSE and tosses around Parasitic Bond like there's no tomorrow. His self heals are fairly developed and he can be difficult to drop.
He drops The Stonereaper, perhaps the best curses staff in the game:
Energy +10
Dark damage: 11-22 (Requires 9 Curses)
Halves casting time of Curses spells (Chance: 20%)
Halves skill recharge of Curses spells (Chance: 20%)
Curses +1 (20% chance while using skills)
Energy +5
Two-handed
It really is a perfect staff.
From the point where you defeat Craw Stonereap you should easily be able to see the next boss, Zarnas Stonewrath.
He is no picnic. With my weak elementalist armor, he tosses around easily spammable Stone Daggers which strike twice for 88 dmg. each. His elite skill is SHOCKWAVE which strikes 3x if you are next to him for 150+ dmg. to my elementalist.
His drop, however, is worth getting for a great Earth wand. He drops Zarna's Wrath:
Earth Damage: 11-22 (Requires 9 Earth Magic)
Halves skill recharge of Earth Magic spells (Chance: 20%)
Energy +5 (while Health is above 50%)
Simple and effective.
These two bosses are tough - but extremely accessible - the whole run taking only a few minutes.
Start to finish.
The last section of my quick farm runs tutorial is not quite as easy as the others, due to the number of Dredge that patrol in the area. Still, there are at least two bosses close to a city that are easy to locate.
This run begins at the Aspenwood Gate, an area due East of the Altrumm Ruins. Here there is a Monk Boss and another Elementalist Boss.
Again - there are many dredge patrols skirting through the area, as well as a pocket of Oni to watch for, so be careful. The first boss is the Monk Mungri Magicbox. Unfortunately, his patrol is painfully slow. Attack when you first see him and you may be caught by faster patrols and tangle with Oni, wait for him . . . and you have to wait for him.
He uses the elite skill BOON SIGNET, should anyone wish to capture it. He drops Mungri's Flame.
Fire Dmg: 11-22 (Req. 9 Divine Favor)
Halves skill recharge of spells (Chance: 10%)
Energy +5 (while enchanted)
Not the best Monk weapon perhaps, but oh well.
The next boss is much tougher, though you can catch him alone. He does have two patrols around him, and I suggest waiting for them to come to you so you can focus on the boss. His name is Tarlok Evermind and he uses the elite ENERGY BOON.
That doesn't matter though because his constant barrage of Fireball and spells that do area damage centered on him cause massive damage. His Aura of Restoration keeps his health up quite effectively too.
Tarlok Evermind is found here:
He drops Tarlok's Flagon:
Energy +12 (req. 9 Energy Storage)
Energy +15
Energy regeneration -1
Health +30
THE energy offhand for an elementalist.
Well - that's the end of the farming runs so far. Not all of them are easy . . . in fact, they get progressively harder. Maybe Guild Wars set it up that way. I will add to this as I find more, and please let me know of any others you find. The key is to find bosses that can be located close to cities and with minimal effort spent on killing normal enemies to get to them.
Thanks for reading - I spent a lot of time on this.
